Prahran Hotel by Techné Architects

elbourne-based Techne Architects found an innovative use for a series of concrete pipes when it was commissioned to renovate the Prahran Hotel, located in Victoria, Australia. The first two levels of the precast tubes house individual seating areas for the hotels pubs and are lined with planks of wood, adding a sense of warmth and intimacy, while giving the fitting appearance of stacked wine barrels when viewed from the outside. Techne also helped to bring together all the different spaces inside by installing a multipurpose atrium space made of glass and steel. This area serves to host larger groups and special events.
